Now that we have introduced our WBUD Top Shelf Strains, we thought it may be a good idea to address this subject. For novices, getting too high is possible. Experienced people usually have a built up resistance, know their products or are aware of their limits.
Typically, a novice can get into a tough situation when consuming too many edibles. This happens because ingesting cannabis has a delayed reaction before the effects begin. Sometimes up to an hour or more. So some people eat too much, thinking it’s not working.
When smoking or vaping highly potent weed, the stone comes on fast. Same goes for Concentrates which pack a wicked punch for the unwary.
Obviously, it is best to know what you are doing, but shit still happens even with the best intentions.
Marijuana has become far more powerful over the past 20 years. As a result, it can sometimes be a more hallucinogenic and mind altering experience. The levels of THC are climbing each year with new and improved strains being introduced having more THC tweaked out of them. Especially with Nova OG with a THC level over 35%.
More than ever it pays to know your pot.
No one has ever died from overdosing on THC. You would need to take in the equivalent of thousands of joints for this to possibly happen. Being ultra-high can result in any of the following:
- Elevated Heart Rate
- Poor Decisions
So most of the symptoms are mind related. Usually, the high dissipates within minutes or in an hour or so.
What to Do
The best thing is to actually be prepared & aware of what to do ahead of time.
- Take deep breaths until you start to relax. Fresh air is best.
- Focus on something that you like to do or something that makes you feel secure.
- Use positive self-talk to calm your mind. This takes will power. It’s not easy when you are freaking out.
- Call a friend for support.
- Get in a restful position. Try to meditate or calm yourself. If you fall asleep – great!
- If you are unable to sleep or rest, then go for a walk.
- Try to distract your mind. Watch something funny or cool on YouTube, listen to music that is calming or melodic, play a favourite video game, etc.
- A cold shower or a warm bath may work – but can depend on each individual.
Drink some freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add sugar and some lemon peel. Lemon has a terpene called limonene that is known to counteract THC.
Also, eating something that has a lot of black pepper in it is reported to work. The terpene, beta-caryophyllene is the active ingredient. You can also snort some finely grated fresh black pepper. This is not a joke. When the sneezing stops, blow your nose. Or not. It’s up to you.
Eating something tasty and nutritious can help.
Take some CBD tincture. It is known to counteract the effects of THC.
The most important thing is to know your Strains, your limits and reactions.
- Experiment carefully with new Strains until you are familiar with them.
- Avoid getting drunk and then toking up.
- Know what to do ahead of time if you get ultra-high on weed.
